As the church of the living God, we want all people to come to know the Lord Jesus Christ. We recognize our own, as well as everyone elses universal need for a Savior. Humanity is desperately broken in sin, and Jesus Christ, God in flesh, has come to free us from its power. He alone took the punishment for his people upon the cross, and defeated death by rising from the grave three days later. This is the truth we need as a church, and wish to declare to every other needy soul.
Regardless of your church background or experience, we invite you to join us for worship on Sunday. Our services begin at 10:15am and typically run for 1 1/2 hours. Our church building is located in Northeast Calgary at 7015 32 Ave NE. We meet to joyfully worship the Lord Jesus Christ in song, prayer, the preaching of God's Word, and the practice of the Lord's table and baptism. All are encouraged to stay after the service for refreshments and fellowship. For a more detailed look at what to expect on a Sunday and how to prepare, see the list below:
As a church, we believe the Bible to be God's authorative Word. As a result, it is primary to our worship service. The Bible is taught, and preached in a manner seeking to be faithful to what is clearly written; word by word, and verse by verse. This has been historically know as expository preaching: the exposing of the true meaning of the text and applying it to our hearts. Our convictions regarding the Word, would follow in the historic pattern of Reformed Baptists. For more on our beliefs, see our Statement of Faith.
Our church worships in song to a hymnal containing songs of praise both ancient and modern. Though we understand this practice is seen as more "traditional," we find rich doctrinal clarity and gospel centredness in the many songs contained. We sing these hymns congregationally, as we understand the voices of God's people to be the primary instrument of worship and praise.
One of our historic distinctives as a church is that we are family-focused, meaning, that children are of great importance to us as a body of Christ. As a result, we welcome them to be a part of our worship service. We believe in their nurturing and growth in the Christian faith, the main avenue being: the ministry of the Word. Thus, children are encouraged to sit and listen during the preaching. There are also areas and ministries located around the church that parents can utilize in the process of training.
